This Privacy Policy explains how WorldGuide ("WorldGuide", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our websites, mobile applications, and related services (the "Service"). WorldGuide is the controller of the personal information described here.
The short version: we collect what we need to run a travel planning and booking product — your account, the content you create, the bookings you make, and limited usage data — and we do not sell your personal information.
•
Account information. When you sign in with an identity provider (for example Google, Apple, or Microsoft), we receive basic profile details from it — typically your name, email address, and profile picture. If you browse as a guest, we create a temporary anonymous session instead.
•
Profile and settings. Information you add to your profile (such as a username, bio, or travel-style preferences) and your app settings (such as language, region, theme, and notification preferences).
•
Content you create. Guides, stories, trips and trip details (dates, participants, proposals, budgets, expenses, tasks), saved places and favorites, photos you upload, comments, tips, and messages you send in chat — including messages to the AI assistant and in trip group chats.
•
Booking information. When you book travel, we process the details needed for that booking: traveler names and contact details, the offer you selected, its price, and the booking references returned by the travel supplier. Payment is processed by the supplier or its payment partners; we do not store your full payment card number.
•
Location. Only when you use a feature that asks for it — for example asking the chat "what is near me?" — and only with your permission. Your location is attached to that single request and is not stored on our servers. See section 5.
•
Usage and device data. Product events (for example which features are used), approximate region derived from your request, device and app version, and diagnostic data such as crash and error reports. Optional analytics are collected only with your consent where required — see section 7.
•
Communications. Messages you send to support and the transactional emails we send you (for example booking confirmations and trip invitations).
•
Provide and operate the Service: accounts, guides, trips, collaboration, bookings, notifications, and support.
•
Generate AI-assisted content you ask for, such as itineraries, suggestions, and chat answers (see section 4).
•
Process and manage bookings with the relevant travel suppliers, including confirmations, changes, cancellations, and refunds.
•
Personalize the experience, such as adapting suggestions to your travel style and locale.
•
Keep the Service safe: prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, moderate reported content, and secure our systems.
•
Measure and improve the product using aggregate analytics and error diagnostics.
•
Communicate with you: transactional messages about your account, trips, and bookings, and — only per your notification preferences — other updates.
•
Comply with legal obligations, including financial record-keeping for bookings.
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: performance of a contract (running the Service and your bookings), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, measuring what works), consent (optional analytics and marketing, location), and legal obligations.
When you use AI features — generating an itinerary or collection, asking the chat assistant, or using in-product assists — the inputs needed to answer you (your request, the relevant trip or guide context, and your app language) are processed by our AI infrastructure and shared with our AI model providers (currently Google) to generate the response. AI output is grounded against real place data and labeled with its provenance in the product.
•
Your chat history with the assistant is stored in your account so you can return to it; you can delete chat sessions.
•
We do not sell your prompts or use your private content to build advertising profiles.
•
AI-generated content can be wrong — verify critical travel details before relying on them.
WorldGuide asks for your device location only for features that need it — for example, asking the chat about places near you, or location-aware help during an active trip. Location access is controlled by your device permissions and, for in-trip features, an explicit in-app choice. When you use such a feature, your location is sent with that request to produce the answer; it is not stored on our servers and is not collected in the background.
We keep personal information for as long as your account exists and as long as needed for the purposes above. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we must keep some records longer — for example booking and transaction records retained for tax, accounting, and legal compliance, or data needed to resolve disputes and prevent fraud. Diagnostic logs and analytics are kept on short rolling windows.
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, receive a copy of, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information; to object to certain processing; to withdraw consent at any time; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
•
Delete your account directly in Settings → Account, or by contacting us.
•
Request a copy (export) of your data, or exercise any other right, by contacting support@worldguide.ai from the email linked to your account.
•
Manage optional analytics and marketing anytime in Settings → Privacy choices.
•
EU/EEA and UK residents can also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CPRA.
WorldGuide serves travelers globally, and the providers described in section 6 may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where personal information protected by EU/UK law is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses with our providers.
We protect personal information with technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk: encryption in transit, scoped access controls, sign-in via established identity providers rather than passwords we store, and monitoring with personally identifying details scrubbed from error reports. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
The Service is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 to create an account or book travel. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We will update this policy as the Service and the law evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version, and we will notify you of material changes — for example in the app or by email — before they take effect.
